It's an urban myth that suicide rates spike at the holidays. Turns out they actually go down. Experts think it's because people are less inclined to off themselves when surrounded by family. Ironically, that same family togetherness is thought to be the reason that depression rates actually do spike at the holidays. Yeah, okay. Izzie doesn't count.
There's an old proverb that says you can't choose your family. You take what the fates hand you. And like them or not, love them or not, understand them or not, you cope. Then there's the school of thought that says the family you're born into is simply a starting point. They feed you, and clothe you, and take care of you until you're ready to go out into the world and find your tribe.



E' una leggenda metropolitana che i suicidi subiscano un'impennata sotto le feste. In realtà risultano che addirittura diminuscano.
Gli esperti sostengono che sia perché le persone sono meno inclini a farsi fuori quando sono circondate dai familiari.
Stranamente però è proprio la stessa vicinanza con i familiari che si pensa sia la causa dell'effettivo aumento delle depressioni sotto le feste natalizie.

C'è un vecchio proverbio che dice che non puoi scegliere la tua famiglia. E' il destino che decide per te. E anche se non ti piace, se non l'ama o se non la capisci ..tu ti arrangi.
Poi c'è la scuola di pensiero che dice che la famiglia in cui si nasce è semplicemente un punto di partenza. La famiglia ti nutre, ti veste, si prende cura di te finchè non sei pronto ad andare in giro per il mondo a cercare qualcosa di tuo.
