Ellen Pompeo isn’t going anywhere.

Though specific terms of her new pact haven’t been revealed, it’s believed that Pompeo is now one of the highest paid actresses on the small screen.

Everyone’s back. Days after Ellen Pompeo closed a new deal to return to Grey’s Anatomy for the upcoming Season 13, the other four cast members who had been renegotiating new contracts also have reached new deals.

That includes Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens, Jr. and Kevin McKidd. There were a total of six Grey’s regulars whose deals were up at the end of Season 12. Of them one, Sara Ramirez opted to depart, while the rest had been expected to come back.

Grey's Anatomy is going back to basics in Season 13, focusing heavily on the remaining original series regulars, according to one star.

As for Meredith, Season 13 will find her and Maggie exploring their new sisterly dynamic now that newlywed Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) has moved out of the house, and the drama that ensues when Maggie finds out that Meredith and Riggs (Martin Henderson) are involved. Bailey will continue to represent the ups and downs of long-term relationships through her marriage to Ben (Jason George). Developments for Webber remain to be seen, but he's due up for a big, dramatic arc, and it's a safe bet that Rhimes will deliver.

Of course, this isn't to say that the newer characters won't get any of the spotlight. For starters, April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) will learn how to co-parent while trying to figure out their own relationship, and Amelia and Owen (Kevin McKidd) have to navigate married life. But fans who have been with the show since Season 1 can expect to see the Grey's veterans front and center.

Though Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) was initially slated to get a love interest in season 12 that didn’t end up coming to fruition, executive producer Shonda Rhimes tells EW exclusively that the pediatric doc will indeed find romance in season 13.

“We’re absolutely going to see it,” Rhimes says. “Jessica was very, very delightfully pregnant at the end of last year, and so she’s not in the first two episodes — which everybody brace yourselves for — because she’s taking a little bit of time off for kids, but then she’s back. I’m very excited to introduce a love interest for her, and to get to tell a story with her that lets her be who she is, and to see who she is post the relationships that she’s had.”

While Rhimes stays coy on who the love interest might be, the Shondaland boss stresses that she doesn’t want to force the relationship. “You don’t want to just stick two people together,” Rhimes says. “I want to do it organically and I want the audience to be rooting for it. So I think we’re going to have fun with it.”

The news comes in the wake of Callie (Sara Ramirez) leaving Seattle for New York, providing the opportunity for Arizona to really move on with her life — though that’s not to say Callie is out of her life for good. “We’re playing that Arizona gets to go visit her daughter and her daughter gets to come see her,” Rhimes says. “So it’s not this sense of loss. In our world, Callie still exists.”

Last week, viewers finally saw Owen's sister and Nathan's wife, Megan (Bridget Regan), in flashbacks. Is she alive?

If I had a vote, which I don't, I would definitely vote for her to come back because it would add such a great, interesting twist to the Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Nathan situation. One of the things we've seen with Owen since he started on the show is that he has a guilt complex. He beats himself up and blames himself for things over and over again. He blames himself for the plane crash, even though technically, it really wasn't his fault. He takes on a lot of guilt, and his core as a man is connected to the disappearance of his sister. So if that suddenly disappears and she's alive, it's going to really crack open and change who Owen is because he's built his life around this core guilt and feeling of responsibility for the loss of his sister. It'd be really fascinating to reintroduce her; I don't think it will happen anytime soon, but I would love it if we did.

Nathan and Riggs seem to have their friendship back on track. Owen doesn't let Riggs put him on a pedestal and confesses that he, too, had cheated on his wife in the past. Will Owen lean on Riggs given everything with Amelia or will we see him continue to be this silent, guilt-ridden guy?

I hope so. To have that conversation was deeply healing for Nathan, but it was deeply healing for Owen, too. That conversation really moved the needle on the Owen and Nathan relationship because that's the first time they have felt that deep brotherly love that they had for each other and that that could still be there buried under all of this anger and resentment. We're starting to see the Owen and Nathan relationship begin to slowly rebuild. I think Owen will start to confide in him and it's a beautiful thing to watch that happen because it's a good message to send out there into the world that even with terrible things that can happen between people, if there's forgiveness and if there's an intention for the deconstruction of that resentment, beautiful things can happen. I do think we're going to see less of the silent, brooding, having the weight of the world squarely on his shoulders Owen. He's finally going to have somebody he can share that with in a very male sense. It's a really healthy for him to have that deep friendship.

Amelia does not want children and Owen does. Even if she does come back, will they be able to overcome that?

I wish and pray for Owen that he will one day get that child, and be with someone that wants to have that child with him, and I hope that person is Amelia — but right now, I think that ball is in her court. Eventually Owen is going to have to say he can only do this so many times and he can’t do it anymore.

How will Amelia leaving impact Owen?

I think Owen will do what he always does in these big, horrible moments in his life — he buries himself into work, and usually not in a healthy way. He’ll probably work incredibly long shifts and just be all about medicine. I think a lot of people do that when there are problems in their life. They just stick their head in the sand and just work, work, work. I don’t think he’ll unravel in the sense of drinking too much or anything, but I think he’ll get tired and stressed. But the thing with Owen is that the thing that triggers his PTSD is lack of sleep and stress and getting buried in work, so this can become a situation where his PTSD gets flared up again. That’s my concern.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Now that Jo has told Alex the truth, can they start to heal their relationship?

CAMILLA LUDDINGTON: I think that it’s for sure a step forward, but I’m not sure what direction it’ll be in. I am hoping that with both of them being so vulnerable with each other, it can open up communication again. But this is Shondaland; reconciliation is never made easy and sometimes simply doesn’t happen. Do I think they’ll be more road blocks? I can’t imagine good drama without them.

It appears that Alex is going to go through with the trial. We know that Jo is ready to testify. Can you talk about her mindset going into this knowing that her husband could finally find her? Is she essentially ready to stand and fight?

She absolutely has a lot of fear. Her initial reaction was to run, but I think Alex telling her to stand her ground was something she had never heard before — or perhaps she had, but coming from him, in that particular moment, it really struck a chord. She has a lot of fight in her, she’s a survivor, and I think yes, she decided she’s not ready to let go of what she has worked so hard to build. She’s terrified, but she’s taking a stand.

Will we get to meet her husband in the latter half of the season?

I think people don’t realize that the cast are often as blindsided by storylines as the audience is. I have absolutely no clue what the latter half of the season holds. I feel like we have to meet him though. I want to meet him. He’s cast such a heavy shadow over Jo, I want her to have some sort of closure. If she gets it by facing him, then so be it.

“We are going to meet Jackson’s father,” Sarah Drew tells EW. Details on who is playing him or when he’ll appear are being kept under wraps.

In other news, Grey‘s has booked another April and Jackson-centric episode, which finds the divorced duo heading to Montana — and maybe down the road to reconciliation? “There’s going to be a Jackson and April episode, just the two of them,” Drew says. “We’re dealing with a case and it’s just the two of us in Montana for the whole episode.”

The Kevin McKidd-directed hour featuring their trip to Montana is slated to air in March and has already been shot. “It’s really lovely,” Drew says. “We’re really proud of the episode. It’s very tonally different than a lot of the episodes. There’s a lot of quiet, silent spaces where we’re just watching people process things. It’s intimate and very adult.”
